Grunter?

My baby grunts non stop all night long....IF he is in his crib....but if my husband or I hold him and let him sleep in our arms he stops his grunting???  Anyone else have a LO that grunts a lot?  I'm constantly worrying that something is wrong with him.  :o/

Re: Grunter?

  • My LO is the same way.  I think it has to do with laying flat but I don't know.  During the day the grunting is cute.  At night it makes it difficult to sleep :)

  • Jelly Bean does the same!
I had to start turning the monitor down low because it would keep me awake all night.

This exactly...and we turn our monitor down a bit too...  I just feel so bad though!  Like he isn't sleeping as great.

  • My daughter grunted NON-STOP for the first 3 1/2 wks of her life...we also thought something was wrong.  It gradually just went away and she's now 9 wks and doesn't grunt unless she's "filling her pants".  Maybe your LO is just more comfy being held and grunts trying to shift around in the crib?  HTH!

  • My LO makes noise constantly. SHe grunts all night in her sleep. We're to the point we don't even notice at night any more.
  • I'm so glad you posted this! My LO grunts all the time at night. I also noticed that if I hold him he doesn't do it as much. It's starting to interfere with my sleep.
  • Yep my LO does the same thing. Some times she has grunted so loud that DH wakes up in the living room and comes in thinking something is wrong!

We haven't gotten much sleep lately and honestly I can't wait until she grows out of it.

  • Ditto - I have a grunter too. We put in a crib wedge and he still does it. I'm hoping it will go away soon. Between grunting and coughing on extra saliva, my poor guy isn't getting much sleep (me too).

I do notice that he is silent when he is in deep sleep.

  • My LO squeeks and grunts.

I actually appreciate it!  I'm a bit obsessive about whether she's breathing. Hearing her weird sounds means I don' t have to check.  Embarrassed
