I've gained 30 pounds now! Ughhhh....I was hoping to only gain 30 the whole pregnancy and definitely not more than 35, but with 8 weeks left I am afraid I may exceed the 35 pounds.. My doctor did say some people only gain 5 pounds at the end and some people actually lose so maybe I'll get lucky. Just curious who else is in the same boat? I hope breastfeeding takes most of it off quickly and the abdominal wrap I bought for post partum! I hope my butt fits back into my pants someday!

I decided to not have a weight 'goal'. I just wanted to survive pregnancy and whatever I had to eat in order to make myself feel good, I planned to eat.
I'm up 11 lbs (don't shoot me) but I had such horrible m/s for the first 16 weeks, food just wasn't my friend. I'd gladly be up 60 lbs if it meant that I didn't feel so crappy for so long at the beginning of this! I was also not small to begin with, so I guess us fluffy girls don't always gain as much anyways.
Ditto. I lost a couple of pounds during first tri (from m/s), gained like crazy during second, and gained a moderate amount for the early part of third. So I'm up a total of 27 pounds so far. I wanted to stick in the 25-30 range for the entire pregnancy, but that's probably not looking likely. And there's no way I'm going to exercise any willpower and deny any of my cravings.
What if LO needs all of those carbs and ice cream, even after the healthy meal I try to give him?
Like you said, I hear BF takes it off pretty quickly. I'm banking on that.

I'm up 30 also. I notice the extra padding in my butt and thighs. Of course, my face is rounder too. My doc is a saint and keeps telling me that my weight "looks good" so I'm not too worried about it.
I did have a conversation with my thighs in the bathroom mirror this morning. Told them not to get too comfortable, because I'm coming after them after Junior's born.

I only wanted to gain 30 for the entire pg and I am at 20+ right now. People keep telling me how great I look and how I'm "all belly," but I am freaked out.
I am wondering if my doc is going to say something at my 28 week visit this week...I don't want "the talk!"
But as PP has said, I will be coming after my thighs and butt w/ a vengeance soon enough!
Yeah, I've gained about 55 at this point
, so I don't really want to hear all of the "30 already!!" stuff... I know I can get it off quickly, but it doesn't make me feel any less like this:
I have gained about 35lbs and am pretty fine with it. My face just started looking bloated and gross haha But whatever I am at the end.
I expected 20, but after passing that very quickly I gave up on caring. I like being able to eat again, and will enjoy it while I can! haha?

My Dr's goal for me was 30 lbs for the whole 40 weeks. At my 34 week appt, I had gained 35. I'm expecting to go over 40 now.

There's been a lot of research that proves gaining 35+ pounds is healthier for mom and baby. Less toxemia, better birth weights, decreased premature babies, less malnutrition, etc.
I don't think there is any "ideal" weight gain for any of us during pregnancy. Everyone is different, different body types, different nutritional needs, and all that. As long as we're eating a balanced diet and giving our baby what they need, I don't think weight gain is something to stress about.
I'm up 40 pounds at 37.5 weeks. Not what I had planned. But hey, I'm 5'8 and it seems to be fairly spread out so... oh well

i hoped to max out at 30-35 and I am at 32 right now - hit that mark at 34 weeks so I figured that I'd end up at 38 if i gained a pound a week. BUT, like a lot of people have said, I have actually stayed the exact same over the past two weeks. I actually find it harder to eat now that my belly is leaving little room for food and making the reflux much worse!
one thing that i also think is help is a piece of advice that my BFF gave me. She said that in the last 4-6 weeks of pregnancy, she gave up one item per week that she had allowed herself ONLY because she was pregnant. that way after you deliver, you don't have to conquer the whole thing at once. First week I gave up my excessive pizza/calzone consumption (i was eating it like 3x/wk!), then last week I went back from regulr cal drinks to my former sugar free drinks. This week i am giving up excessive sweets (I can still eat some, but I am trying to watch it the way I used to). I figure that that one will take me 2 weeks to accomplish! And the last thing is going to be giving up white flour products and returning to whole wheat products. I saved that for last because right now, the white bread stuff still helps to control my reflux, so I kind of need it.
