My doc just called me today and wants to pull me out of work effectively immediately due to unsafe working conditions.. I'm not sure how disability works and I know it can vary from state to state..

just wondering if anyone has gone through this before? I am going to speak with my supervisor tomorrow (he is not in today!)

I teach & had to go on disability. I only get 8 weeks maternity leave & I have been off sense September due to strict bed rest.

Anyway, I had to get a packet from the administration office, fill it out, have my doctor fill a portion out, and fax it to Mutual of Omaha.

My only advice to you is to get the paperwork filled out and returned ASAP. I sent mine in a while back and it's still being "processed". It takes a while to get your claim approved and there's always a possibility that they will send you or your doctor a request for MORE information.

varies from state to state- and also company to company- so the only real way to know how it will work for you is to talk to your HR dept.
