DH and I are deciding between two names if we have a girl.Name #1: DH's grandmother's name. They were very close and she died last year. We love the idea of remembering her this way, and we LIKE the name. It's not our favorite name, but we do like it (classic but a little common).Name #2: we LOVE this name but there is no significance to it (i.e. it doesn't mean anything special, it's not in honor of anyone...). If we use Name #2, we would use name #1 as the MN. There is part of us that thinks we will feel bad if we don't use a name of significance. What would you do? [Poll]
DD 2.9.10
DS born sleeping 12.2.12
Re: WWYD? (Clicky poll inside)
Give her the name you love with grandmother's name as a middle name.
We're in the same boat...
DH all the names I liked except one which is smiliar to my grandmothers name who passed away, he actually bough the name up...
The other name is DH's FAVORITE name ever, I think it's ok, but I don't love it.
use # 2 with DH's grandma's name as MN

This.
I feel like middle names are perfect for honoring someone/something with special meaning to you, especially if you have a name you love for the first name.
DD's first name has no special significance, just a name we loved. Her mn is Caroline, which tributes my MIL (Carol), my dad's sister (Carol) - and of course, the Red Sox (Sweet Caroline).
This.
Use grandma's name as the MN.
BTW, I love your screen name

I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
I'd rather not, in case someone I know IRL is here. But all of your opinions have been really helpful!

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I would use the name you love, especially if you will still use name #1 for the middle name. Sounds like the perfect solution.
