  • I agree with both of your answers. MrsMoody hit it on the head that for some, the loss of a symptom can point to a m/c.

But... like IV said, she could have easily asked 1st tri.

Thanks...I can't figure out how to do it on my Mac. The 2nd is clicky bc I copied a clicky

On my Mac, the easiest way I've found is to open a TextEdit document and paste the link there. Right click and click on Make Link. Then copy and paste.

There is probably some easier way, but at least it makes them clicky!

  • Shorty,

How are the contractions today?  Is LO being good or causing you all sorts of trouble today?  Hoping everything is good and she's stayin put!

  • Well, LO has been groovin all day. My contractions, which were really bad from about 10 to 4 last night, finally calmed down today. It was all good until about 4 this afternoon, where they were about 7 minutes apart again (my uterus really likes 7 minute breaks apparently) for about 3 hours. They were definitely more intense today (hitting 80+ on the monitor). ::shakes fist::

I just hope I'm not advancing anymore. My doctor gave the nurses strict orders to keep their hands out of me, so I have no idea if these contraction fits are doing anything.

I did get to tour the NICU today, so that wass fabulous. It not only got me out of my hospital room, but I also got see where LO will most likely be spending his or her first weeks.

    How are you doing?

  • Shorty, I just want to say that even if you have the baby tomorrow you and the hospital are doing an awesome job at keeping the LO in.

Also, I am sure you have been notified of the possible effects of having a 2 month premature baby. Do you mind me asking what they are?

Well, there are four things that the NICU addresses, so LO could have any, or all, of these issues:

    Trouble breathing

    Trouble regulating temperature

    Trouble eating

    Trouble digesting

Because I got the steroid shots, they are pretty confident of LO's ability to breathe. By 32 weeks, everything is developed, but it's just not as mature as a baby born at full term.

As far as delivery goes, it could happen any day and be as quick as possible. I'm 4.5 right now, but with a preemie, I won't actually need to dilate to 10 cm. So, since I'm AT LEAST half way, there is no telling how fast this whole thing could go down when it does.

Also, my baby is measuring small (I don't know percentages), so they are a bit concerned about that. They were hoping that LO would bulk up with me being on bedrest and the meds I'm on, so she is slightly afraid there might be a chromosonal issue. I am hoping that LO just takes after me in size.

I would be a wreck. How are you staying so calm through everything?

  • Yeah I was about to ask that too.....How much do they think LO weighs? In my ticker it says that the baby is approx. 1.5 lbs. But I am almost 6 weeks behind you. When I watched the Baby Story the women who were having multiples would go in for c-sections earlier than women having one baby. However, the hospital wanted all the babies to be at least 4lbs before they would deliver.

How little were you when you were a baby?

  • I'm not totally sure. My nurse yesterday told me that LO was 3 lb 12 oz. This isn't all that off. I think it was more of her concern that it isn't a big weight chance since 2.5 weeks ago, considering all I do is lay around and eat. Another factor is that I haven't gained a pound from my prepg weight. In fact, last I checked, I was 2 lbs under.

I was 7 lb 10 oz when I was born, but I'm only 5 ft now.

I am remaining sane by thinking of all of the positives (not that I am ignoring the severity of the issue, but it gets me through it) of having a small baby.

For instance, I will not be giving birth to a bowling ball, so hopefully my vadge will be spared. I will make it out of this pregnancy without stretch marks. It will get me off of bedrest. I'll get to meet LO sooner. I get to wear cool yellow scrubs when I visit LO in the NICU.

Of course, these don't outweigh anything, but it helps.

  • Yellow scrubs??????are you kidding me? you'll look like a chiquita banana! you and a certain bumpie could be twins! ok I am only kidding! LOL

    I am 4'11 and I weighed I think 7lbs 8 oz when I was born.

Your LO only has like 4 more ounces till he's 4lbs. Go baby Shorty GO!

Don't worry, it's more of a pastel yellow. I'll look like a baby chick.

FWIW, my cousin was born 6 weeks early and only weighed 2lbs 5 oz. and he is a very healthy 8 year old now! I think you have a great attitude and I know everything is going to work out for the best for you and LO!

I wouldnt worry.  Almost 4 lbs at 31 weeks is not very far under average.  I can't remember (and my hospital bag is already in the car-ya know, just incase) what Sean measured at 31 weeks but I want to say it was only like 4 lbs 3 oz so you're close!
