I plan on breastfeeding however I know i will have to pump and use bottles sometimes as well. Any reccomendations on which bottles are the best to use?
I haven't used them yet, but I got some Breastflow bottles based on recs from friends. It's supposed to be the closest thing to feeding from the breast.
Bottles are hard bc it really depends on your babies. I was planning on using the drop-ins by Playtex but my babies hated them. We used the Medela bottles that came with my pump when they were first born and then we moved to Dr. Brown bottles.
My advice is to get a couple small packs of different ones and keep the receipts and only open one at a time until you find one they like. GL.
our lac consultant recomended Avent (HATE these) and playtex drop ins (like these). I also really like the Dr browns and DD does really well with Munchkin (I prefer glass bottles).
A friend who nurses uses the MAM bottles once/day with her DD and they work great for her. We also use the MAM bottles and love them -- they have an air vent system- but do not leak like the Avent bottles, and don't have 100 parts like Dr. Browns.
The Ameda Purly Yours pump (also marketed under the lansinoh brand) is a great pump - patented technology that makes it so the milk can never back up into the tubing- so never will get mold/bacteria in there... which also means you can buy/sell it used b/c with new tubing, flanges and bottles, it's totally safe to use even if 2nd hand. I EP'd for over 2 months with my first and a month with my twins with teh Ameda and LOVED it.
I use Gerber bottles and my guys seem to like them. I found it was the nipple I had to play around with more than the actual bottle.
As for pumps I would definitely recommend the Medela pumps. Also be sure it is a dual, electric pump otherwise you'll be pumping forever. And milk storage is up to you. You can get bags pretty cheap or use the containers that come with the pump.
Buy several different types of bottles. We used the Playtex Vent aires advanced and we were fine going from breast to bottle, but they always got really gassy afterwards. I had some Avents, tried those, and loved them. My biggest complaint about the Playtex was that they only have a fast and slow nipple and my kids needed something faster than the slow, but the fast made them choke. The Avents have several different flows; and if the nipple is in there right, ours do not leak.
I love my Ameda Purely Yours pump, I EP now and have had no problems with it in the 4.5 months I have used it. I bought it solely because there was no tubing to clean and you didn't have to worry about milk getting in there and bacteria growing.
Pump bags, I love the Lansinoh; Gerber and Medelas seemed really thin to me plus the neck is smaller and I have a hard time pouring pumped bottles into them without spilling.

I only had avent bottles and my son did fine with them. (Until he started refusing a bottle, but that's another story.)
I had the regular Medela PIS. I loved it. I nursed my son for almost 2 years, and used it the whole time. Ditto the pp's, make sure you get a double electric. It's worth the $$$.
