what kind of mat. pants/jeans worked best for you

There are so many choices.  Did you like the "real waist" or full panel?  I didn't like the demi panel with my son, it dug into my belly.  I'm wondering if a twin belly fits into that full panel?

  • The Miracle Belly or something (I forget exactly) at Motherhood is awesome. It's super stretch  - I wore  them  for about 16 weeks, until  I delivered - so they went thru some major growth.

Also, for casual, I really like Old  Navy's stretchy/scrunchy waistbands. Some fold over and some were gathered  on the sides.   Very Comfy!

  • I love the secret fit belly ones.  In the beginning when I was still not that big I just folded it down because I didn't like it all the way up.  Very comfortable.  Now that I am HUGE I have to wear them up and it is so much better because some of my shirts cover my belly but there is a draft underneath and the belly part keeps me warm plus I know that way I am fully covered.  My step sister gave me some gap jeans though that were not full belly and I loved those when I was smaller.  GL!

  • I also agree on the Secret Fit pants - I also folded them over until I got big enough to use the full panel.

Now, I love the full panel on all my pants - and I'm 20 weeks.

I bought a nice pair of Gap jeans with a demi panel that felt great early on, and now I don't really wear them.  First, I found that demi panel jeans fall down/sag for some reason - more so than demi slacks.  Also, the full panel is MUCH more comfy now that I'm further along, and I like that it helps cover the massive crater that is my belly button so you can't see the hole where it is through my thin shirts.

  • for sure ONLY the over the  belly styles, or fold over waist you can fold up. The ruched under belly style are so uncomfortable - dig into my poor belly .

  • I think I'm in the minority here, but I can't stand anything that goes over my belly.  I can only wear pants/jeans with either the hidden waistband or the thick elastic under-the-belly band.  Gap has some awesome corduroys with hidden elastic waistbands.

  • Secret Fit Belly.  Up until about 16-18 weeks or so I wore under-the-belly styles (low rise elastic waist) from Gap (including the cords that JillRock is referring to above), but then (I got bigger and) I tried a pair of the Secret Fit Belly from Pea in the Pod and now I am hooked.  I just ordered 2 more pairs.  And the Gap has a couple of styles in over-the-belly, which are just as good.  I literally can't wear anything but over-the-belly now!

  • Definitely the full panel, SecretFit belly for me.  Anything that was the mid waist just cut in and was very uncomfy... especially toward the end.  I was a size 6/8 before the girls and I was able to be in the medium size from Motherhood up until about 30/32 weeks.  You can definitely fit a twin belly in them :-)  For a cheaper alternative, look at Kohl's... they carry a less expensive Motherhood brand that is just as nice.
  • NO maternity pants fit comfortably anymore.  The only comfortable pants I have are some black pants from Old Navy.  I got them pre-pg (they're not maternity), I thought they were regular pants when I bought them, turns out they're pj pants (but I wear them as regulars because you can't tell and they're SOOO comfy).  I've never been a huge fan of the secret fit belly by Motherhood, they never stayed up well for me.  Recently, every time I have a contraction, the panel rolls down my belly (huge PITA when you're in a store pulling your pants up every few minutes).
  • Well, I bit the bullet and bought some of the secret fit from pea in the pod.  They were kind of expensive, but I swore the next time I was pg I would buy jeans that I love instead of going the cheap route and hating my whole maternity wardrobe by 7 months. LOL.

The girl at the store said I would only want the secret belly fit for twins, anytihng else will start to fall down or dig into my belly in the 3rd trimester.  She also said I'll be out of jeans by 7 months.  That scared me!  I told DH he's going to have to cut a hole in a sheet for me to wear. LOL!

  • I love the secret fit belly full panel from Motherhood!  There is nothing else I can be comfortable in at this point and there is still room to grow.  I was a size 6 before pregnancy and the mediums fit very well still.  I have grown out of all of my other maternity pants at this point. Another good feature of the full panel is when your shirts start getting a little short, you can't feel the draft from under the belly.  Good luck!

This!  I have three pairs of Gap pants, all go under the belly and don't have a panel.  They have hidden elastic waistbands and honestly look like my pre-p clothes.  I am happy about this as I plan to wear them in my 4th trimester LOL!  I just wear longer shirts, mostly from Target, and a few nice work ones from Norstrom.

Now, my black "tights" or stretchy pants that I wear under dresses, it is cold up here, are the secret fit belly.  I like those too!
