Buying your LO Christmas Presents

I am due Christmas Eve. We are debating buying something for the baby for Christmas. Not anything extravegant. DH thinks we should wait in case he/she has not arrived by then. I think we should get something little any way. What are you getting your baby for Christmas, if anything? We did not find out the sex of the baby, so we can not get anything personallized ahead of time.

Re: Buying your LO Christmas Presents

  • obviously it's not necessary. but maybe something SMALL.  We're not, cuz baby isn't due till feb. But a friend of mine already bought him a present... I told her she was crazy.

  • I am not. I'm not due until January 25th. I know several family members have mentioned they have bought LO a gift. Next year we will spoil him.
  • Nobody in our families are buying anything for LO for Christmas. I just thought maybe something special from Mommy and Daddy. A teddy bear, or a really nice rattle that can be later engraved when we know the sex.

I personally think it's weird to buy them gifts before they're here. What is going to be special about next year if you buy him/her meaningful stuff this year?

  • We're not buying anything. We've spent the last 9 months spending a crapload of money on him...a newborn obviously has no idea what's going on. Besides, I'm sure our family went overboard buying stuff for him, so we'll just leave it at that.

  • i am due the week after christmas, but DH and I were so excited with this being our first christmas in our new house and with the baby coming, we got a stocking to go on the mantle with ours and the dogs, and all the recent stuff we bought for the baby (clothes, and a few toys on Black Friday) we wrapped to go under the tree, letting them there until she comes to "open" them. but i have a feeling we are in the minority doing this...we just cant help it! :) i say go for it if you want!?

  • We don't even get our "outside" kids gifts now. LO won't know the difference.
  • We are, but we have two toddlers who are very into Santa so we still need to play it up for them.  They make for some cute pictures too.
