Hi everyone,
I posted almost 2 weeks ago about my babies having discordant growth, and a few other issues at our big u/s. I ended up having an amnio to test for infection, and had a follow-up u/s today. All in all, we've had only good news! There is no sign of infection, and the babies looked great today on the u/s. The doctor said it's kind of a "wait and watch" situation, to see if things progress to full-blown TTTS, or if the babies keep growing just fine. I'll have biweekly u/s from this point on. So we are cautiously optimistic at this point! The doctor seemed much less gloom-and-doom about things today, which was comforting. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers, they are very much appreciated!
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Mono/Di twins, where the growth was kind of "off?" I'd love to hear any advice/stories! Thanks!
Re: update on my twins
Hi and congrats!!!
?My boys (also mono/di) always measured a week apart. Around 22 wks they notice that baby "B" had more fluid and also was bigger. I was being monitor and doing regular u/s. At this point they were suspecting TTTS but I was not diagnosed. At 31 wks I had the boys from complication with placenta previa.?
Baby B was 4 lbs 5 oz and baby A was 3 lbs 3oz?
They did confirm TTTS at the NICU. Baby A was the donor and baby B had to have blood drawn because he had too much of it.
They are both healthy little boys with some minor issues. The most important thing is that they keep an eye on it.?
GL!!?
Wow, what a roller-coaster. If you are already this far along and they are not that worried, then you are probably out of the woods. My MFM told me that full-blown TTTS usually presents between 17 and 22 wks.
I didn't have this issue, but my MFM also told me that if I did have it, he would send me to Cleveland for the placental laser surgery, if they NEEDED to separate the babies food sources. Clearly only for a life or death situation there. He told me that no one else does enough of these surgeries to be really competant.
The fun just keeps coming, right? I am going in every week now to "keep an eye" on possible cervix funneling and they were worried for about a week about gestational diabetes. I thought DH was going to pass out, he is only pretty good with super High-Risk stuff apparently!
GL & T&P!! P.S. I don't know if you heard, but one of the MoMs clubs in the area is having a baby gear sale in April! You can look them up through the National Mothers of Multiples Clubs...
