Umm...potty issues (cannot reach!)

This just started about 2 weeks ago - and is getting progressively worse (and quickly!). I am having trouble wiping after I pee - I just cannot reach anymore! I need longer arms...

My sweet dad bought me some of those Always cleansing wipes when I was in the hospital (they would not let me shower for 3 days) so I am trying to use those a bit.

Ick - driving me nuts. Anyone else experience this?

I could *hardly* reach by the end of my pregnancy...but I was able to stretch a bit to make it work through the end of my pregnancy...after my c-section they gave me these cleasing squirt bottles to clean up down there with warm water for the first 2 weeks or so I think it was...so if you get to the point where you can't reach - I would recommend these!  Good luck!

Great idea! I have a tiny bit of arm remaining so I am hoping to make it through the next few weeks dry.

OMG.  I was just thinking of posting the same problem.  I also am having the problem of if I sit up straight I can't go pee so I have to kind of sit on my side to go.  Wierd.  I can still wipe after peeing but if I go #2 it's getting difficult.  My babies are real low at this point and so my stomach is laying in my lap!

If you use the squirt bottles you should be ok... however, I do know of a "reacher tool" that they sell at medical supply places for disabled ppl.  You can attach the tp to the end and drop it in the toilet with the push of a button.  Can't wait until I can't reach, but then I will have to call the nurse to help me LOL

Hehe you just gave me a chuckle, what a memory that is! Ahh the joys of pregnancy.  Always made me wonder how larger people live daily?

HAHA  sfitz, I thought of you when I saw this post.  I remember spitting my coffee when I read a similar post from you!  Isn't it funny how that seems like a lifetime ago!?

To the OP, it is a cruel joke that on top of everything else you can't just go to the bathroom with out issues?!  You will be able to look back and chuckle even though I know it is not funny now.

I guess I have something else to look forwards too I have noticed I have to spread my legs apart to make room for the belly in my lap.

Kind of related, for the last few weeks when I try to give a urine sample at the Dr. I have the WORST time seeing the tiny cup down there. I am lucky to get some in the thimble sized cup before A) I run out of pee or I pee all over the place!

I never thought peeing in a cup could be so hard!

Yes!  Glad you brought it up so I know I'm not alone.  I'm actually 5'10" with long arms and I still have to really work at it!

I'm SO glad I am not alone in this! i am 5'0 so everything is short on me. I'm already having trouble reaching. Not sure how I'm going to do it when I'm further along. Oh and peeing in the cup at the Dr's = awfully messy experience! Haha

sorry- i can't get past the thought of my dad buying me anything that has to do with wiping my crotch.... LOL --- he's some guy!!

I managed a strange reaching technique from the side... strangly enough, i found it hard to wipe my butt - and it's not like there was anything in the way- it just required so much stretching for me which was not easy late in pg!

I agree with Goldie on both points. I'm so glad you posted this b/c I've been having more and more trouble wiping after #2 - I'm going through lots of toilet paper b/c it takes multiple attempts! I like the idea of trying the cleansing wipes.

HA! I totally thought of this today. I had to give a urine sample at the doctor, and ended up peeing all over myself because I can't see/reach well enough to get the cup in the right spot?or even see where that spot is! Oh, the joys of pregnancy. My DH must be feeling like he's married to a geriatric woman by now, with all my peeing issues, extra pills, trouble getting around, etc....

Oh totally! Going to the bathroom is such an ordeal these days! I can barely reach anything. I feel like such an old lady!
