Hi. My name is Amy and I actually used to post on SAIF and the baby boards as nyc212 so I know a number of the moms on here. I have an amazing 15 month old son, Mason, by IVF after a m/c and an ectopic pg (resulting in a ruptured tube). Two weeks ago, I found out that we got pg on our own. Today, I found out it's twins.
I'm stunned, scared, very nervous about how this will impact my son and our family. I'd love to hear from moms who have (or are heading towards) 3 under 2.
Re: New Here
Congrats and welcome! I will not have 3 under 2 but wanted to welcome you.
I have received great advice here - I was in shock for a while after receiving the news! :-)
GL!
congrats!!! How amazing- after all that- to get pg on your own- and with 2 no less! Wow!!!
Your son, btw, is beautiful! love your siggy pic!
Griffin was about 18 mo when we got pg with the twins - and I was so upset that we were going to ruin his life, etc.... but then i realized that was just silly- that we were giving him the BEST present he could ever get -- siblings!
Both DH and i come from a large family and can't imagine not having all of our siblings - and we were so glad to be giving them to Griffin.
he LOVES his brothers - he is so good with them- rarely gets jealous - and really takes care of them. We have done a really good job of making sure he gets a ton of attention- so there have really been no issues with him acting out for attention -- it was a lot of planning on our part- and a lot of work - but worth it- for him not to resent them for taking away all of the time he had with us.
there are a lot of 1+twins on here - so you'll get tons of info if you need it- but you'll do just fine. I think it's easier to have twins after a singleton b/c you know what to do with a baby --- so that part makes it easier with the twins- you aren't so scared and worried you are doing the wrong things, etc.
Get Dr. Luke's book on being pg with twins - it will help you to have a healthy twin pg. It's sort of the "bible" for twin moms on here
(triplet moms too!)
I am in the same boat as you. Our son is 14mos and will be 15mos (hopefully) when our twin girls are born.
We are still in shock, but feel incredibly blessed. Congratulations to you..your son is darling.
