When he could walk well he started getting a lot better, and when he started talking he got a LOT better. So, 18 months? I think he was in a constant state of pissed off frustration until that point. Now, he is still a challenge andn high maitanence, but he is pretty joyful/happy at the same time.

For us it was a very gradual improvement. Once ds was walking, he found lots of ways to keep himself entertained, which cut down on much of the crying for no reason. However seperation anxiety peaks and falls throughout the entire 2nd year and high needs kids seem to suffer from it more than other kids, so during those times, the crying and clingyness were unbearable. Once he could really talk around 2 years old, I'd say that is when I saw major improvement. Hang in there, its tough.
