Cost of trees at Evergreen?

I am trying to convince my DH  to go to Evergreen farms this weekend, but I need a price comparison so I can show its no more expensive than HEB/Walmart/whatever.  That's right, right?  I know several of you have been already -- can you give me an idea???  Katiekakes, you around?

I know the experience will be a lot better than the grocery store, but my DH understands $$ more.

(we've had a fake tree the last couple years but miss our  live trees!)

Re: Cost of trees at Evergreen?

  • I don't remember the exact price of our tree but I got the tree, an advent wreath and a small nativity for jacks room for $55. That makes me think the tree was around 30ish? It's done by height and you can take a measuring stick w/ you- they have them on the tractor for ya.

  • It's priced per foot.  DH and I are trying to remember from last year - maybe it was like $5 or $6 per foot?
  • Depends on the type of tree. The locally grown (the ones you cut down) were ~$6 per foot for under 8 ft. The fir trees that are trucked in and more commonly seen at HEB, Papa Noel, etc. were more per foot (maybe $8ish per foot). In my experience it was cheaper than the pre-cut places and definitely more fun but I didn't think the selection of locally grown trees was that great.
  • We went to the other farm in Elgin, but it was $6/ft for the type we picked.  I thought the trees were nice- maybe not as many to choose from as last year, but we found a great 10' tree last weekend.

The experience is totally worth it, IMO.  DD loves it.
