The past few days my dog has taken to humping my and DH's leg. ?WTF? ?She is spayed and is a year and a half years old and she starts doing this now. ?
This grosses me out and I yell at her every time she does this. ?Seriously, why is my dog humping me???
Re: Why is my dog humping us all of a sudden!?!?
humping is a sign of dominace (sp) you need to show her who is boss
(sorry had to fixing my one handed typing errors)
She is looking for attention and/or trying to establish dominance. Check over on the Pets board, there are several ladies that will be able to give you tips and training advice.
Also, check out this blog https://babiesandbeasts.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html for some helpful training info about dogs and babies.
Stress makes dogs do funny things, and changes stress out pets.
Humping can be a dominance behavior, so use it as a sign to step up positive training (even just making dog sit and stay for the food bowl) and exercise as much as possible. Your pup knowing that you are in control and will take care of everything will make her feel secure and less stressed, and therefore be happier and behave better. Just don't go dog whisperer on her and use aggressive dominance BS like alpha rolls :-p. Getting physical with a dog leads opens it up for them being physical with you.
Thanks guys! ?I have always been the dominate one/disciplinarian?in our family but with the LO every thing has been upside down. ?We really need to get her back into her routines cuz it's getting ridiculous. ?First it was chewing on every thing and now it's humping. ?
It has to be the lack of attention and us being way too relaxed lately with her routine/rules. ?
::sigh:: ?Its so hard juggling every thing right now.?
Poor dog. ??

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. Our six-year old female dog began humping, which she has NEVER done before.
I did a lot of research about it, and although humping CAN be a sign of dominance, dogs hump for many other reasons as well. It is very likely misplaced anxiety or excitement. Just tell her no and turn away from her, but don't yell or discipline her.
