I'm sorry to be repetitive. I have been considering purchasing a Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor. I have read some reviews that say they do not work well for older women (me ). Does anyone have any insight on this?
Thanks!

Age shouldn't have anything to do with it. Women with longer cycles report having problems. And I think that if you're on fertility drugs or have PCOS it might not be helpful from what I've heard.
I'm about to start my third cycle using mine. For the past 2 cycles it has been giving me a ton of highs (like 10 days!) and no peaks. I have been told it takes a couple of cycles to "get to know you" and it is likely that my hormone level shifts are slight so the machine is learning how to "read" me. I'm hoping this cycle it will be more useful.
From what I can tell, most people don't have this problem though and love theirs. GL!

Thanks for the response. Good luck this cycle. I like the idea that it uses FMU (I've been using the digitals and its hard to poas and wait at work - not to mention crossing my legs for four hours!)
By the way, your wedding dress is gorgeous!

I used it for the first time last cycle and enjoyed it. It asks for tests in quantities of 10. You begin POAS at CD6 and because of my later O at CD 18, I had to use 20 sticks. I'm hoping that it "learned" me and that I'll get away with the remaining 10 in the box! When I bought it, I never thought that I would perhaps be on Clomid for the 2nd cycle. From what I read in the manual, fertility drugs can sometimes give you only peak days and not the highs. I'm going to try it out and see how/if it works. Just to be safe, I'll use an OPT as back-up, too.
My suggestion is to buy it cheaper on Ebay. I bought mine new for $85 but if I knew then what I know now, I'd buy used. You can get good deals on there. I buy my test sticks on there, too for around $30. The cheapest I could find them is on Amazon.com for around $37, including shipping.
I am new to this board, but I wanted to respond. I used one for this time of TTC #2. It worked after some months and I got a BFP. I just m/c yesterday but it obviously had nothing to do with the monitor (although this is the very first time by monitor went from low to peak in 24 hours-completely skipped high). So the CBEFM worked for me. I bought mine used on ebay and had to reset it. I still chart and use OPK too, just because I am weird like that. lol
DS- 4 years old, Natural m/c @ 7 weeks-12/1/09. Infertility issues- low ovarian reserve- low AMH and high FSH. Looking into adoption.
Trying to figure out where to go with your little one? My favorite website is: Trekaroo
I've been using mine for about 6 cycles now. I like it so far, although last month it gave me 1 high day and then the 2 peak days (as the manual says it will(regarding the peak days, that is). Previous months it has given me a lot more high days, but I try not to get too wrapped up in what it gives me. I've always gotten a peak on mine since I've been using it, so I guess that is good.
If you have good luck with OPKs, I would save the money if I were you. But, I hear ya on the whole waiting to POAS in the afternoon for those. I like doing it in the a.m.and get it over with. I also bought mine with extra FSA money, so I had the $ to spend on it. I get the sticks on amazon also-I think they are cheaper there.
It worked well for me when TTC DD. BFP on the first cycle with it...plus B6 and low dose aspirin for my sort LP. I was Oing much later than my charting showed. This time, I have been using it for 5 cycles, with no luck. I know it is right on with O, because my CM shows that the O prediction is correct. My LP is still very short, so I am working on that and planning a trip to the RE.

GL! HTH.
Thanks so much for the insight! Sorry for the delay in my reply - but my iphone wouldn't let me reply
Best of luck this month - I hope the Clomid does the trick!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for responding during such a difficult time. I am going to look on Amazon and e-bay and try to find a deal.
Best of luck in your journey. I am sending good thoughts your way.
