Baby Names

Honesty please...

Hi All,

Hubby and I decided on a boy name that we both like:

Ronan (or Ronon) Elijah

Would you ladies be so kind to honestly tell me which spelling would be better and if you like it (or think it is too strange)?

Many thanks!

Re: Honesty please...

  • Ronan is alright, I prefer the Ronan spelling - honestly, my first thought was Scooby Doo saying Conan (as in O'Brien) :) It's not bad though.

I love Elijah as a middle name.

  • I like it.  Ronan (this spelling) matches well with the Celtic names that are so trendy but this one is unique enough that he won't be one of 3 in his class.

  • I'm curious, you didn't get this name from Stargate Atlantis by chance did you? DH likes this name and I do too but we can't use it becuase his name would be Ronon Lambdin. Far too many -Ns for my taste. In SGA it's spelled Ronon but I don't really like that spelling. I prefer Ronan.
  • Ronan. Very cute.

Hehe. Yep!! We are huge dorks and Stargate fans! Actually, our boy's name will be Jackson Cale after Daniel Jackson in SG1 (I adore Daniel Jackson!) But yea, DH suggested Ronon and I like the name but not with ours. That's awesome if you're able to use it but I would spell it Ronan instead.

Omigosh, before we got pregnant, my husband was stuck on naming our baby Daniel Jackson Stewart. LOL! I liked Jackson Daniel better, but he said it would sound like we were alcoholics (Jack Daniel), so we compromised on Ronan Elijah Stewart. :)

lol I tried to get DH to go for Daniel Jackson and he wouldn't. I think mostly because he is obsessed with Cale and wanted that in there somewhere lol

  • The name is NMS, but I would spell it Ronon.

  • I like the name, it's unique but still easy to "get". I think the spelling Ronan is easier and more common.
