What is so bad about Fuzzi Bunz?

I ordered just one Fuzzi Bunz one size/pocket and i actually like it alot...but i've heard so many negative things about them. I've only used it twice so tell me what's the problem with them? I also got Haute (dont like), Smarti Pants (not a big fan of) but i love my Fuzzi Bunz and BG's OS. I did just order the Flip so we'll see how that goes.

Re: What is so bad about Fuzzi Bunz?

  • I haven't heard anything bad. I just got my first FB about a month ago and I really like it too. It fits well and is easy to stuff.

  • A lot of people feel their business practices are unethical.  I'm not well versed in the matter so I'll let someone else explain.  I love FB and they work great for us.  I've bought all mine used so I don't feel badly since I'm not really supporting the company.

  • I like my old made in amercia ones. They are now made in china and she is trying to push everyone else with pocket diapers out of the market or something else awful like that.

On a side note, I do love my knickernappie onesize. We have the hemp insert.

  • we use mostly fuzzibunz & i love them.

i bought all of mine (except one that came with the jd trial) on craigslist. they're all the first version, i guess. but seriously, LOVE.

  • The only one I had leaked poop through the pul. ?I hated the fit as well. ?

  • I have some old style oens and I love them.  That said:

-They are no longer made in the US- may or may not matter to you.

-They have patented the pocket diaper.  Now, nothing wrong with that.  If you have a great idea, you should patent it and prevent other people from stealing your idea.  Glad says that FB did NOT actually invent the pocket diaper, that it had previously been around, and thus they have no legal right to the pocket diaper.  I have no idea if she is right or not- I have not done any research on it or seen her sources.  Logically, I don't understand why BG or some other fairly big diaper brand wouldn't challenge FB's patent in court if that is the case.

The other thing is it is pretty easy to get around FB's patent- you just have to design your pocket flap opening a bit differently than their patent indicates.  So it isn't the end of the world.  Thus, there are lots of other pocket diaper on the market besides FB.

So after that long winded response, I like my FB and if they were still the old style and still made in the US, and didn't have MF inserts, I would buy more.  The PUL does eventually delam (but all PUL will eventually).  The ones I have are like 5-6 years old and have been used by 3 kids.  I had to replace all the elastic but so far the PUL is fine.  Of course they may have changed PUL suppliers in the last 5 years!

  • I didn't know about the business practices issues.  I only have 5 FB and we didn't start using them until DD was 8 months old.  I like them and haven't had any problems with them, but I still like my BGs better.
  • Some of the issues are:

-they are now made in China

-she has a patent for pocket diapers, and clearly did not do here research before applying, as there were pocket diapers made in I believe the 70's.

-she licensed to certain manufacturers to allow them to make pocket diapers, then basically changed her mind and is suing them for patent infringement

    - she makes claims on her website that are false (she claims the fleece layer inner of her diapers is patented... I have read the entire patent, and this is not true. She may have applied for the patent, but then she should say patent pending.

-to those who have questions about her business practices, she has been rude, and downright antagonistic, to the point where many small diaper makers are afraid to talk to her, post questions on diaper messaging boards, etc.  She is basically threatening to sue anyone who is making diapers that she believes is infringing on her patent, who speaks about her wrongly, etc.

I just refuse to support someone who has such unethical business practices, and who started out as a work at home mom who is now threatening other moms who just want to make sure they are not infringing before they sell their diapers.
