fenugreek and bfing preemie

LC at the hospital recommended fenugreek for supply. im wondering if anyone has any exp with this esp with preemies. he is getting half BM and half formula not for supply reasons though. when he is home in a few weeks i would like him to be on BM only, either pumping or breastfeeding. have there been any side effects to using this with preemies? or any side effects for mom? if it doesn't work or is bothersome i will try alfalfa or goat's rue next.

I've had supply issues recently and have been taking fenugreek for about 2 weeks.  The only side-effect I've had is that my sweat smells like maple syrup.  I think it's been helping a bit.  GL!

I used it for a while, no s/e for Robbie at all. Unfortunatley it didn't do a lot for my supply.

I wouldn't recommend using it if you have allergies! For me taking it was like rolling in grass and then sweeping my house! Stuffed me up something feirce!

yeah i read that if you don't smell like maple syrup you probably aren't taking enough! LOL

FWIW, my LC said you can't really "overdose" on something like fenugreek.

I don't think it is counter indicated.  I took it (granted DD was older at that point). 

Other than swallowing 6-8 huge pills a day and smelling like maple syrup I didn't have any side effects/issues with it.  I'm not sure if it worked or not ... the effect wasn't very noticeable.
