Trying to Get Pregnant

Vet ER

Had to take our dog to the Vet ER because we were at the dog park today and she was peeing blood.  Turns out she has a UTI...They did say though that if it doesn't clear up after 10 days of meds, they will test again for stones.  My questions is...why didn't they just test that the first time.  Saves me $35 vet trip + tests...just do all the tests then.

Dog is happy now though she got a new toy

Re: Vet ER

  • Sorry about your dog, I hope the meds help.  What breed do you have?  Is she your only pet?

  • Our last trip to the Vet ER cost us $1600.00 and they still didn't tell us what was wrong with Charlie; but he is ok now so I guess better safe than sorry!

    SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
  • Oh your poor puppy! What kind of dog do you have? We have a 3 year old Shih tzu and for the last 2 years we have been dealing w. constant uti's, and struvite stones. We also noticed with blood in her urine. Since then she has had way too many tests, meds, ultrasounds etc etc. She is now on a special food. I hope your little furbaby doesn't have to go through any of that. I hope the meds work their magic!
  • Awww I hope she is okay!  UTIs are the worst...I can't imagine what it must be like for a dog.

  • I hope she's feeling better soon! I'd say the reason they did only the urinalysis/antibiotics now is that the odds are she only has a UTI. Testing for stones would probably involve ultrasound and/or xrays, and that's a lot to go into (and pricey) when it's most likely just a UTI.

  • So sorry about your pup!  Hope she feels better soon and it is not stones!
