really? I haven't heard anyone using it recently.

It's an old family name from my Mom's side, and I think would give special meaning if we used it. I like it - it's strong and classic

I love it! The trick is, keep referring to your LO as "Asher" and then it will probably grow on him. I have been doing this with a girl's name since before we even got pg again, and sure enough DH has used the name a few times just out of habbit, and he says it's really grown on him since I'm saying it all the time!

I hadn't thought of this name and I LOVE it! I would use it for our boy and it would be Asher Macaiah (Mah-kai-uh) - both with biblical meanings....BUT then I remembered...our last name ends in er. BOO

Love it though!

hmm....interesting! I've just been feeling "boy" alot lately and started thinknig this morning "maybe it's little Asher" - i don't really know why..but it felt right.

yeah I'm not big on the alliteration thing either - and we LOVE an "L" name for a girl...it's set in stone if this babe ends up being a girl!

Love it.  I first heard this name off the book The Giver, and I LOVE that book.  My friend calls me Asher and I call her Jesser haha. (My name is Ashley and hers Jessica)

I love this name, too, and it got shot down... It's the story of our lives as far as baby names.  We're not agreeing on ANYTHING!

I have a 3 year old student with the name.  Personally, I don't love it, but I don't hate either.

My niece's name is Asher. 

I was unsure of it at first, but now I'm so used to it and it just fits her.  I like it as a girl or boy name.
