Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How do you find time to work out?

Obviously at 6 weeks, DS's schedule is not predictable.  Usually he gets some good naps (1-2 hours) in during the day-- although I have no clue when they will be.

I try to get as much done as possible while he naps since I cannot usually do much when he is awake---but how am I supposed to eat, clean up, do whatever chores need to be done, shower, etc. AND work out?  I just don't know where to fit this in.

I considered waiting until DH gets home to do this then just shower in the evening, but he comes home around dinner time, and I can't work out when I need to prepare dinner, and I def don't want to do it right after dinner.

I HAVE to get back to working out already.  Where do you fit this into your daily schedule?

  • I'm not totally working out yet, just walking, but I do it later in the evening.  I know it's not ideal, but it works for us because DH will just watch tv and hang out with DS while I go work out.

  • I'm back to work which makes it even harder to squeeze in! I already have ruled out waking up earlier, I am up at 6 anyhow. This week I am going to try to do it after dinner around 7:30, Trent usually naps for about an hour or so then so hopefully I can squeeze my workout in before he gets up and we give him a bath.
  • uhhh i dont want to talk about it. but i havent found much time at all. dh works nights and sleeps during the day so that really screws me up. im working on it though
  • I am struggling with the same issue.  I know that DH would give me some time once he comes home but that is usually our time as well.  Besides I know my DH would like time to workout as well.  I guess it is just one of those trade offs where DH and I spend a little less time together so we both can get our workouts in.

  • Last night we started putting DS to bed at 8 so I think maybe I'll be able to fit it in at night

  • I mainly take LO on walks and slow jogs in the jogging stroller.  I also do 20 min of 30 Day Shred when I have time.  I have a treadmill at home that I hop on when LO is taking a nap.  During the day, whenever I remember and have the time, I'll do a couple sets of lunges, pushups, etc.

  • I haven't been able to fit it in at all yet, and it's driving me crazy.  By the time DH gets home in the evening I am too tired to go workout, and DD keeps me on my toes all day.  What's a girl to do?
  • my dh works from home so I try to run out the door to the gym whenever he has a few minutes and the baby is sleeping....i basically get dressed in my gym clothes in the am and wait until i can get out for a little while...not easy! They have babysitting at my gym but not sure if ds is too young or i am confortable with that yet...

  • Today is my first day back at work (and it's awful) but I'm using my lunch hour to workout.  I have an ideal situation though as the gym here is 13.00 a year and two floors below my office.
