I don't know if I count as a lurker considering I post a decent amount. I just try to stay out of anything in which my presence might be a problem. Good idea for a poll MSC!

I've just been wondering for awhile. I don't typically lurk on other boards, so I'm curious why people lurk.
I lurk on a few others but not on a regular basis and all for different reasons - mainly IF (nothing to contribute - I'm not where those girls are), BOTB (when it's slow here it provides entertainment), TTC 35+ (feels like a close knit community and I feel like I'm intruding) and First Tri (for laughs).

I have posted some, but typically just lurk. I choose "Other"...I have time to lurk during the day some, but just never seem to be able to post much...usually when I want to jump into a conversation, something pops up here at work and by the time I get back that comnversation is long over...it is not that I want to be considered a lurker I just find it hard to post during the day when all the fun stuff happens!
I lurked for-flipping-ever for several reasons: (1) the number 1 rule to newbs is Lurk, lurk, lurk; (2) I didn't know much, so I wanted to learn and not share; (3) by the time I knew the answer to a question, someone already beat me to it.

I do post, but not a lot, so people might not recognize me. But I agree with the above. Also, I work in an open office...so I'm constantly minimizing my screen everytime someone walks by...then I end up forgetting what I was gonna say...

I've started posting now but I was a lurker for a long time. ?I voted for my reason why I lurked instead of posted ~ we hadn't started to TTC yet. ?So I really had nothing to contribute. ?But I liked lurking and learning for when we were ready to start TTC.

I posted an intro a few months ago and I do post occasionally but I spend the majority of my time on my local bump board. I lurk a lot mostly because I feel a little odd posting a lot because I already have a child. But we are currently TTC #2.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

I'm a true lurker. I'm here almost every day, but never post (as my post count shows). I came here at first because we were going to try soon and I wanted to learn as much as I could. I never really felt like I had anything to add, so I kept my mouth shut. I had a BFP last month and wouldn't have dreamed of being a drive by but didn't feel right posting on 1st tri either. I actually had an early miscarriage, so I'm glad I never posted my BFP anywhere. I lurk here and on the MPL boards.

I often lurk and don't post because I feel like most ladies have been around much longer than me and thus posters should trust their advice more than my own. I've learned so much from lurking!

Welp I just don't know what to pick. Seems like a lot of side conversations happening and I don't want to just jump in. Also haven't had much to say. Guess I should go back and click other.

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)
I guess there are a lot of reasons. 1. Work keeps me too busy to actually take time to jump in. 2. The lurk, lurk, lurk rule and 3. There's so many people that already know what they're talking about, I don't think I have much more to add.
Hi ladies. If I'm lurking in the shadows, it's usually because I don't have much to say. Panseyface, I'm sorry about your loss. Also, I am in love with your SN.

Are you guys trying again soon?
Yes, we're trying again this month. I don't think my husband gets that it was real. He's not a monster, quite the contrary, but it was here and gone so fast. It means a lot to read everything on here and see that I'm not crazy for being sad about something that I only knew about for a few days. Thanks for the kind words ladies.

Thanks for posting this, MSC! My reasons are the same as a lot of what's been said: not enough time, or by the time I get to a question it's already been answered, and by women who have a lot more experience than me. And I'll be honest: I'm a little afraid of being called an idiot by kdodge
But now that I'm on cycle 7 I'm feeling a little more outgoing. This board really is so supportive and I really wanna jump in on that this cycle; I need it
It's weird, I feel like I know a lot of girls so well, but since I don't have time to post much I know they don't know me, so I don't say hi. I also feel like Lyse, where I don't wanna jump in on conversations; but I like when people jump in on mine. It is a public board after all.
And then sometimes I start posts like this and don't post them because they're a million years long.
Re: Lurkers: Clicky poll!

Indeed, but do I have to vote to find out the results?

Nope. At the bottom there is a link to view results.
I feel a little left out, since it's a clicky that I really can't click

BOO!!! Eeheheheheh ::evil laugh::
I think that trying to join into most conversations can be intimidating.
It's just been sorta quiet around here, yet post views are still relatively high. I was curious why people read and don't talk.
In other words, COME OUT COME OUT WHEREVER YOU ARE!! Let's play! ;-)

Mostly I lurk because it helps the baby cravings and amuses me.

I'm sorry for your loss
Initially, just lurked with curiosity prior to TTC and to learn more about charting.
Now that we're TTC, I am coming out of my shell a bit. However, don't seem to have time to sign in every day.
And, I have never found that people who don't even know me, see me, care about me (well, yet) could possibly be scary!
Interesting poll, indeed!
