My insurance didnt cover it because I hadnt met my deductible. I called the Drs office and asked b/c it ranges by office. It was supposed to be $324 dollars, for the ultrasound. The labs are much more, but my insurance covered that part. We ended up paying much more because they found the twin in there and had to do all sorts of other stuff.
I'd call the place where you would have it done to see what they charge.

It covers 90%. I don't know if you saw my post last night but DH and I are still hot and heavy in conversation about it. So much so that he has let me get almost no sleep when I stayed home from work to sleep after not sleeping last night, due to how upset and anxious I was.
Ok, so the u/s is 250-300, depending on what I don't know. The BW is about 200 more. So it wouldn't be more than 50 bucks out of pocket. I was afraid if it was going to be 500 we were going to have another argument about its importance. I am waiting now to see if they will let me just do u/s and no blood work since DH is against knowing the statistics, but I want to know if we would need any special care for the baby if something was wrong. If the u/s looks not so great they can send us for level II u/s and fetal echo later in the pregnancy to look for specific abnormalities that might need care the hospital I plan on delivering at doesn't provide, but we don't have to get into specific chromosomal diagnosis. I hope this is an OK compromise for DH and the Dr's office will let me do it.
From what I know, the bloodwork is an important part of the doctors providing you with accurate results. I am not sure that just doing the u/s portion would be enough to tell you the true odds of Downs, Trisomy, Spina Bifida. If your goal is to be prepared for any dianosis, I would say go ahead and do the whole NT scan (u/s and bloodwork). I think it would worry me to only do half of the test and not ever know what the true results were. But of course, see what your doctor says.
Re: If you had an NT scan, especically if you paid for it.

My insurance covered it all.
Also, its the scan as well as two blood tests. So make sure you ask for the cost of all of it.
