I took WAY too much stuff. All you need is a few pillows, some warm socks, a few nightgowns, a robe, and one change of clothes to come home in. The hospital provides the rest.
Oh... and if you want to take a little bit of make up and hair essentials that is always good too. It made me feel human the day after delivery to put on a clean nightgown and do my hair and makeup.
I did not care about bringing my own pillows- just used the hospital ones. I used toiletries (what you would need for a weekend away), a hairbrush, pj pants, nursing tanks- to sleep in and easy for nursing, socks, a long sleeve shirt for during the day, a robe in case you want to walk around during labor. I also had makeup and tweezers (might be vein, but made me feel more human)- also because i was wearing tanks, i used a razor just to shave the pits.
i also took way too much, thinking i would be in labor a long time and want "things to do". the only things i used were my laptop, camera, toothbrush, shampoo and body wash and 2 pairs pajamas, socks and tanks. I think dh might have had a granola bar or two. oh, and of course an outfit and carseat for LO.
things i brought but didn't use- robe & slippers (couldn't walk around because of the IV), books, movies, food & gum, make up. i also brought way too much clothes. I thought I would want a set of PJ's and a set of daytime comfy clothes for each day i was there. since i was induced at 730PM on a Monday and had her Tues afternoon, my first 2 nights i was in a hospital gown. I only wore my clothes Wed and then was discharged Thurs.
1- Definately bring your pillow, the hospital one was beyong crappy, I was way happy for mine. Actually, FI regrets not bringing his.
2- Toiletries and pj's to change into. I was really happy to have a nighty to put on the next day. It was much more comfy than the hospital gown and after I showered, it was nice being in my own clothes. I bought a 10$ nighty from Old Navy, so I didn't care if it got wrecked.
3. I brought our laptop with DVDs. It was nice to have some DVDs to watch during the early part of labor since I was induced and it took awhile for contractions to pick up.
4. Snacks and drinks. I was STARVING after delivery and so was FI.

PPs have covered it pretty well. I was very glad that I had a sweatshirt as our room was freezing. I was also glad that we had food. We didn't eat all of it but we did eat some of it and it was handy to have all that snacky food when we went home as well. I was glad to have things like comfy clothes, my own toiletries, etc. I even managed to shave my legs

My own pillows were a must have for me. Other things I was really glad to have--a robe, my own nightgown, my toiletries, and of course a camera. Otherwise, the hospital provided everything else I needed.

The only things I touched: my pillows, camera (batteries!!!) toiletries, makeup and socks. And on discharge day our clothes and the infant seat.
I used a sports bra instead of nursing bra and used hospital's gowns and pads.
We used the camera and camcorder and an outfit for the little one to come home in. Aside from those things the hospital provided everything else.
Oh, and I also think I used my own shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.
