Just curious... I have trouble knowing if Henry is hungry, or just wants to comfort nurse. I know at this age there's not necessarily a difference (especially with constant growth spurts) but because nursing is still painful for me I'm afraid I'm not offering him the boob as often as I should. I know he's eating "enough," because his diaper output is good, but I feel guilty that I'm not offering it enough to satisfy his emotional need. It's just so hard to tell sometimes when he's fussy!
Yesterday was a good example... I nursed him a lot, but I really think he would have stayed on all day long if I had let him and could have tolerated it.
Re: How often do you offer the boob?
Pretty much just at feeding times which is 2.5-4 hour intervals for us. If he's fussy and I know he's got a clean diaper and a recent feeding, I'll offer the pacificier and comfort him by holding him.
Are you using the pacifier? Does Henry like it? Maybe try skin to skin cuddling + pacifier instead of boob if you're having pain?
Def don't feel guilty!
This. Baby is 5 wks 3 days.
