Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Please recommend your thermometer

Yesterday, my friend who has a 2 year old and a newborn told me that it's now recommended to take baby's temp via the underarm method.  I had registered for this thermometer, https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2266320

but she said her pediatrician says temping via the rectum is no longer recommended.

Is this what your ped's have said?  Can you recommend your thermometer?

Thanks!

Re: Please recommend your thermometer

  • I have the Vicks forehead thermometer and a rectal therm.  We actually use the forehead therm in the ICU at the hospital I work at--and it's extremely accurate :-)

FWIW, we consider under the arm is inaccurate in the hospital.
