I am presently in my 5th month and this is my first pregnancy. I had decided on naming the baby Chloe Anastasia. However, after telling people her decided name I found that Chloe is a popular name for dogs. Please help, my mother suggested Chloe, and I really don't want to hurt her feelings. However, a large part of me feels that there is something much more daring, and appealing out there. I am not changing the middle name
I don't think Chloe is any more popular for dogs than it is for babies. It's not like you want to name her "Lady" or "Princess" or something. Bella is also a very popular dog's name, but there are tons of girls named that too. I wouldn't let that influence your decision.
Also, I think Chloe Anastasia is very pretty, but do YOU like it? The way you mention your mom makes me think you just picked it to make her happy.
Either way, pick a name YOU like... regardless of dogs or your mom. :-)

No disrespect to your mother, but you don't have to choose a name because her feelings would be hurt if you didn't use her selection. That being said, I really like the name Chloe and the fact that it's a popular pet name is irrelevant. My name is Molly and I never cared that it is also a very popular name for dogs. Unless you're considering Rover, Fido or Fluffy, who cares?

Unfortunately, the trend in naming animals is going towards "people" names because humans think of animals as their babies, so they name them as such (I even know quite a few people who have used a favorite baby name on a dog and got KU and couldn't use it on their baby). So, don't think of it as giving your girl a dog's name. Everyone else is giving their dog a girl's name.

I think Chloe (especially now) is much more common for people than for dogs. I don't have a dog, but if I did I would definitely give it a human name because I hate stupid pet names, lol.
I also like the flow of your name. If you don't want to use Chloe as the FN, maybe switch it to Anastasia Chloe? I don't think the flow is quite as easy but it's still a great name.
Thank you all for the encouraging words. I do like the name Chloe, but a large part of me feels there may be something else out there. I am open to all suggestions if you all have any. It would be greatly appreciated.
I agree with PP about people giving their pets people names. DH and I have named our dogs Pearl, Ava and Franklin. I've loved Ava for a loooong time (like since I was a littler girl) but its gotten so popular I didn't want to name any children of mine Ava.
Well im on the "I like Chloe" band wagon but since it seems like you are looking for other options for FN's that go with Anastasia(which is AWESOME, btw) here ya go:
Zoe Anastasia
Ivy Anastasia
Brynn Anastasia
Phoebe Anastasia
Also because i think Anastasia is a beautiful name:

You don't sound sold on it, so most certainly do NOT give your child a name because you're worried about hurting your mom's feelings. ?Part of being a parent is realizing YOU are in charge and you make the decisions.
Personally, I like the name Chloe, and I don't think of a dog. ?I do think it's become very popular (I know it made the top 10 last year and we meet a lot of Chloes) so that would kill it for me. ??

Chloe is ok. I'm just lukewarm about it. I know a bunch of Chloes and they all have told me that people tell them they have a dog with that name. It drives them crazy.
The name is NMS, but I definitely don't think of Chloe as a dog's name. It's just fine for a person
If you're not sold on it, find something else. Don't just name her Chloe to avoid hurting your mom's feelings. She'll get over it (probably?) It's not her baby to name-she's all yours!

Chloe Anastasia is pretty!
My name is Katie and I've known a few animals with that name - but that's okay. Any good person name is also a good pet name.
Go with what you like!

I like Chloe too, however if you aren't "quite" sure than I wouldn't use it. You'll be feeling that way forever and ever!!
As for some name ideas, how about these? (some have already been mentioned and I love!)
Hazel
Stella
Harper (I know this is a debated popular name)
Riley
Bree
Brynn
Leighton
Camryn
Eden
Emery
Do you like any of those?

I like the name and I get all weird if the name is too popular. I have to try the most unique name I can come up with for me to be satisfied.
You could always change the way it's spelled, like Khloe!
Eden was actually one of our choices. I talked it over with Daddy to Be, and he likes Laila, Eden or Madison.
Some other options he gave were: Braylin, Chase, and Arden. Like them all but, not completely sold.
