Babies: 0 - 3 Months

New here & Question!!

Hey girls! I am new here.. I had my baby on November 25 at 12:04 am! He was 7lbs, 14oz, and 18 3/4 inches long!! We are absolutley in love although being first time parents we are unsure about a few things!! Since I've called the doctors office like 1 million times I thought I'd ask you girls a simple (maybe stupid) question!

How many BM's is your LO having a day?!?! Every time we change his diaper he has a BM.  I have had to supplement a little bit of formula with breast milk because I wasn't producing enough although last night and yesterday I have only supplemented one bottle of formula? Is this upsetting his stomach?!

Any advice/feedback would be great!!! Thanks girls!

  • When my DS was first born he had a dirty diaper most times we changed him.  It's a good thing!  If he had an upset stomach, you'd probably know because he'd be fussy and unhappy, so don't worry about having to supplement formula.

  • Thank you!! I thought it was probably okay because he doesn't "act" like his tummy is upset!!! I was just wondering and didn't want to call the doctors office again! haha...
  • A normal amount if BF I think is 6-8. Our LO had one every time we changed her diaper at that age! This is a good sign they are eating well. HTH
  • When I was BFing, every diaper was poopy!  I actually dreaded diaper changes.  Now that we are 100% formula, he poops every other day.

My LO has 1 BM right after every feeding while he's nursing.  But when i put him on formula for one week (at 3 weeks old) due to medical reasons he had 1 BM per day. When he went back to nursing last week, it's now back to every feeding.

Breast milk is easier to break down which is why it's every feeding versus once a day.

    Good luck

  • I feel so much better!! haha.. My new mommy worry is now at ease!!

    Thanks!!!!! Smile
