1st Trimester

stressing over m/s :(

I'm 12 wks and m/s is still kicking my butt! I am so scared that its not going to go away in the 2nd tri. I am already down 3lbs which I know is normal to lose weight in the begining but I am very small built and I really cant afford to lose anymore weight.

I'm already a very picky eater and the food averisons are keeping me from eating what I normally eat and I'm just stressing out on what I am going to do to gain weight!

Re: stressing over m/s :(

  • have you talked to your doctor about anti nausea meds?  You don't have to suffer.  It might get better for you in the 2nd tri, but some women are sick all the time. I felt awesome after about 10 weeks. I hope you feel better soon.

  • Hang in there - it will end but unfortunately no one can tell you when.   It's so hard when you don't have an end date in sight - I completely understand.

I swear books and other sources make it sound like m/s should end when you move to the 2nd tri.  But unfortunately, your body might not get that memo (mine didn't in my first pregnancy).  It seemed like a lot of people's m/s faded in the weeks after the 1st trimester ended though.

::hugs::  There are a lot of people in the same boat with you, I know it totally sucks.   Eat as much as you can of whatever you can handle

I'm terribly picky and had the biggest aversion to meat in my first pregnancy - I am convinced that my now healthy DD (14 months) is made out of almonds, triscuits and cheese.

  • I agree w/ pp, talk to your doctor about anit-nausea meds.  I am also small and my OB was not happy when I had lost half a pound at my second appointment.  I tried Phenegran, Zofran, and finally Reglan.  Reglan was the only thing that worked for me (though I still threw up at least once a day).  I'm 13 1/2 weeks and my m/s finally let up last week.  I am now having more good days than bad.  12 weeks 1 day was my WORST day EVER for throwing up, and then I started getting better.  Hopefully it will get better for you soon!
  • Thanks ladies! Knowing I'm not alone really helps. I am on Zofran and it helps some but it sure doesnt last 6 hrs like the bottle says.
  • My doc told me to take dramamine, it helped me so much! Mine didn't really go away until I was almost 5 months. Good luck, it will get better!
