Someone told me that his penis has to stay pointing up in his diaper until after his circ heals. The doc didn't give any specific instructions other than to keep it clean and dry and to leave it alone. It's just rough having to change his clothes every time he pees! TIA.

I have never heard that, we always make sure it's pointed down. If the doc didn't say anything I wouldn't worry.

I am confused as to why your doctor would advise you to do that. Nonetheless, my guy was fine being pointed down.

always try to keep your son's penis pointing DOWN in the diaper (otherwise things can get messy as I'm sure you've found out). and using about a nickle size bit of vaseline or petrolium jelly on it before putting the new diaper on of course will keep it from sticking and causing him more pain.

It shouldn't take even two weeks even to heal, so it won't be long.

but definately no reason to do anything like that, especially with all the laundry it would make!

Yeah, the doc wasn't the one who said to leave it up. It was my good friend who had her boy 2 weeks ago.

For both of my boys, we pointed it down, but we created a "pillow" of Vaseline around the circumcised part, a circle of vaseline using the kind you squirt out. It's what the hospital had us do.

If your son has a Plastiseal (sp?) then follow your doctor's instructions and do not use Vaseline. Vaseline is for the Gommit circ. My son has the plastiseal while my first had the Gommit.
