Poor DS. We are on our 3rd diff. formula & I think it might (crosses fingers) getting better. I'm taking him in to the Dr. tomorrow because I feel like he spits up SO much after eating. I've tried a smaller amount of milk then he screams because hes still hungry....I've tried burping him like every few minutes while feeding. We are currently on Goodstart Gentle Plus. Any advice is greatly appreciated = )
Re: how much spit-up is normal?
How much is he spitting up? Does the spit up really bother him? He could have reflux, which you can get meds for. It will reduce the discomfort and can reduce the spitting to a degree, but not much (since its an actual physical issue with the valve in their esophagus and they just need to grow out of it)
What's normal is different for every baby. My first DD would projectile vomit at least 1, if not 2, entire feedings a day. She was perfectly happy before, during and after and was gaining weight fine, so it wasn't a big deal. This baby spits a lot too, and it really bugged her. We now have her on similac sensitive, plus prevacid, and while it helps with the discomfort, she still spits up. She's gaining fine, so I'm not worried, but I cannot wait until she outgrows it!

Some is normal, even often is normal. If it bothers him I would think it's reflux and I agree with it being something they outgrow. I've read that in many places.
You could try just rubbing the left upper side of his back (no patting) to burp him. With DD I just sit her up and wait and she eventually burps, this has cut down on how much she spits up. I've also put blankets under her sheets to elevate the upper part of her body while she sleeps.
