? re: Cradle cap and oils

For cradle cap, my dr (and people on here) recommended putting baby/olive oil on LOs head, letting it soak in and then brushing it out. I used olive oil earlier and my baby smells like Olive Garden! I don't have any baby oil, but I do have baby oil GEL- do you think that would work the same? Or do I need to go buy baby oil?

  • IDK, but I used pet. jelly on my LO's dry scalp.  It helped a little but keeps coming back.

  • olive oil is fine, afterwards just use baby shampoo afterwards

This.  I've been putting voo on DS head right before his bath.  I thought you were supposed to wash it out.

Right- we did wash it out, but I still don't care for the smell, that's why I was asking about the gel. It smells better! haha

DS just smells like baby shampoo after his bath.  We like to call him our little Italian baby while its soaking in.  It was recommended to me to use natural oils over baby oil, maybe use sunflower oil or other cooking oil if the smell bothers you.

  • i use Bert's Bees baby bee oil, it smells like apricot and is all natural and works. love it.
  • I'd think the gel would work for one or two applications.  I prefer to use natural oils so we use Extra Virgin Coconut oil.  I use it for many applications for myself so I have plenty on hand.

He smells super yummy now, too!
