I know some people hate these posts....but I'm just pretty proud of myself is all.
I NIPed often with DD#1, but this baby is so fussy and particular with nursing that I've been terrified to do it lest she have a meltdown. Well, we went to the museum today and I just didn't feel like messing around with bottles, having to pump when I got home etc., so I threw caution to the wind....and she did great, no fussing at all.
We sat in a corner table at the cafe; it was probably obvious what I was doing, but nothing was visible, even when latching. It's just such a RELIEF to know that we can do this now. ![]()
Re: I NIPed today, 1st time with DD.
awesome for you!
stupid question here -- how do you get her to latch on without exposing everything. sometimes it takes us a few tries or she pulls off & needs to be burped and then put back on during nursing. I want to be brave enough to nip, but dont know how this is handled...
I guess the choice of clothing is key. I pretty much always wear a nursing tank under my shirt these days, and that makes it super easy to yank up my shirt, get her situated at the boob and then open the flap and stick her on. Whether I use a blanket to cover her or not, her head is pretty much already shielding my boob when I open the flap. And when I need to burp her, I cover the flap quickly before I reposition her.
It would not have been so easy today were I not already handy at it with my first daughter. But I was a bit rusty! Practice makes perfect.
