Ok, no flamers, please!
DD has slept with me, in my arms, since two days after we came home from the hospital. She slept in her PNP for two nights but will not sleep alone since then. She will sleep in her swing but she sleeps best in my arms. I really want her to sleep on her own, even preferrably in her own room in the crib. I've tried swaddling and she hates it. I've tried noise machines and they don't work. I actually got her to sleep on her own in our bed while I was downstairs but that only worked for 20 min. and she woke up and worked herself up until I finally had to get her. Even if I get her to sleep, wait a while to make sure she is really sleeping, she will wake up shortly after laying her down, no matter where I lay her down.
Any suggestions? Is anyone else still sleeping with their LO?
Re: LO sleeps with me... suggestions to change this please!!!
DD won't sleep anywhere except in my arms or in our bed. It doesn't bother me at all. I love having her with us, so I went out and bought a Snuggle Nest yesterday. She slept in it from 11 pm- 4 am, and only woke up to eat.
I would suggest, if you can't get her to sleep anywhere else, investing in a snuggle nest for your bed. I would be way to nervous to just leave her in our bed unattended!
We switched him to sleeping in his pack n play about 1-2 weeks ago and it's finally going well. We would use a heating pad to warm up his spot while I fed him his last bottle. Then when I got to the last oz or so I would lay him down (heating pad out of course) and feed him the last ounce while he was down. He usually passes out finishing his bottle. We use a white noise bear as well and swap the bottle for paci ASAP so he keeps sucking and doesn't mind soo much. I have the PNP right up against my side of the bed so i touch him if he starts to stir.
At first we would only get 1-2hrs at a time then he'd come to bed with us and we'd try again the next day. I did it for naps too so he knows that is where he sleeps. After only 2 weeks of working on it he is now sleeping 6-8hrs at a time on his own at night.
The other day someone recommended warming the crib sheets and then setting hte baby down asleep into the warm crib. I guess the heat is supposed to help them feel like they're still being held.
Good luck.
