Post Partum clothes

I'm pretty much wearing the same exact maternity jeans that I've been wearing for a month straight. I feel so gross. I just want to wear normal clothes again.  I tried to wear my demi-panel  jeans that I wore through about 27 weeks today and although they fit, they push my big jiggly pouch belly UP and make me look 5 months pregnant. I am not even remotely close to wearing any of my pre-preg jeans. I'd really love to get something that buttons, but I don't know how long they will fit... Those of you that are wearing a girdle- did you then go out and buy new jeans? I am willing to do this, but don't know if I should just wait a couple more weeks?

Also, I went out to buy a winter ski-type coat yesterday and not even XLs would fit around my hips. Pre-preg, I was a size small- medium. Although I know my body will change for good to some extent I really don't want to blow $200 on a jacket that won't fit in 3 months. Any ideas??

Re: Post Partum clothes

  • Hmmm... I wore something around my tummy for the first week and a half but my jeans still didn't fit.  I also did those massages on my stomach like the nurses do at the hospital to help my uterus go back down.

At around 3 weeks I bought a pair of high waisted skinny jeans that kept it all in place, and now at a month I fit back into my regular jeans.

I know low-rise jeans are "in" but honestly, the high waisted ones were great, it just felt good to be in normal jeans again, even if they were 2 sizes bigger than my usual size.

  • I went to Goodwill yesterday for their 50% off sale (altho its not like they are expensive regularly) and got 3 pairs of jeans, some khakis, and some shirts and a jacket. The jeans were all a size or two up and the shirts and jacket were a medium rather than a small. I know I will keep going down, but I was so tired of wearing maternity clothes and sweat pants. So I spent 35 bucks on clothes that probably wont fit in 3 months, but IMO it is worth it
  • Old Navy had all their jeans for $15 over the weekend so I picked up a couple pairs to get me by.  My maternity jeans were constantly falling down and my pre-preg stuff doesn't fit yet.  It's a little depressing how well 2 sizes larger fits but I guess it really hasn't been that long for me.  I second the higher waists too, it keeps the muffin covered.

  • I bought a pair of jeans from Old Navy, since they're cheap & they have different fits.

I hate them.  HATE.  To get something big enough in the waist, they are huge on my legs & butt.  They are incredibly unflattering.

But I also hate constantly pulling up my maternity pants.

So yesterday, I wore pre-pg jeans with a Bella Band.

There really aren't any good options right now.

Why do you know your body will change for good to some extent? How far out are you PP? Although this time around at one week PP because of my C/S and bloating I still look 6 months pregnant, last time by 12 weeks I had my body back altogether, flat tummy and all. I know it make take longer this time but I have no reason to believe I'm going to be bigger forever.

Now, what goes on INSIDE of your body, well, that's different. Certainly my second pregnancy was much harder because of my first.

  • I also went to Old Navy and got jeans and hate them, as well.  I also had the saggy butt look..  What works for me are leggings and mini sweater dresses, long sweaters, tunics, and ballet flats or tall boots.  I'm comfy, I don't feel like gigantic, and I look "normal" running around the house or out doing errands with LO.

But oooh to be a size 2 again!   Yea right... not in this lifetime!  I better get used to it, huh?

  • I went to Old Navy on Friday, they had all their jeans on sale for $15. I bought two pairs that fit now, I feel so much better in them and at that price I don't feel guilty about spending money on jeans that will only fit for a couple months. I about their "dreamer" cut that is a mid rise and it seems to cover the pouch well.

I feel the same way. I'm struggling with all jeans. I have always had really wide hips but was tiny all over and now my hips are HUGE but all pants I try on are WAY too big for my thighs and are just baggy. It's gross looking. I can't get my pre-pg jeans past my hips though....so I can't put the Bella Band to use : (

  • I am in the same boat and like others, I bought a couple of $15 jeans from Old Navy yesterday.  I feel huge but keep telling myself its only temporary and I will start working out when I'm cleared by my Dr. in a few weeks.
