TTC After a Loss

Got an Appt tomorrow afternoon with the new GYN,

and due to the fact my Midwife went MIA on all her patients I have to start all over. It's like I've never been preg etc cause my file went MIA when the Dr did.A fresh start is a good thing right?? BTW my spotting that started on the day AF was due has stopped ,which is great news! I'm just hoping no AF or spotting means I'm KTFU!

Re: Got an Appt tomorrow afternoon with the new GYN,

  • Ooh- your Dr. going MIA makes me think I just might go ahead and pay my Dr. to get a copy of my medical records for myself.  I hate that they won't just give me a copy.

And here's me throwing baby dust your way.

  • You know what, I think a fresh start really could be a good thing.  You'll be able to pass on the most important information. And the new Dr. can make his own assesment instead of relying on someone else.

Good luck!  I hope it's a great appointment for you!

  • Was it a midwife or a physician?  If it was a physician, you can/should report him/her to your state board.  I would think that midwives have some type of licensing body you can contact.  Perhaps try contacting your state medical board to see if they license midwives.  They might.  Legally we have to keep files for so many years after we stop practicing (this varies from state to state), so you should somehow be able to get your records.

I am so terribly sorry that this has happened to you.

  • It was a Midwife and she moved her practice to 3 different buildings and then just up n went MIA.All her patients are looking for her and their records and noone knows where they are.I'm gonna try my local hospital cause she used to deliver babies there so may be they can help.I started seeing her when I was 15 so that's alot of information missing.

  • Wow! I am sooo sorry. Don't forget about the state medical board for help.  They are there to help protect patients.

  • Hurray for new beginnings...and I hope you are KTFU.  But I agree with I_am_DCA.  Medical records are a HUGE part of what we are required to do, whether a human physician or a veterinarian.  I find it a bit appalling that someone would just up and leave without forwarding information or a letter to his/her patients giving them ample time to obtain their records.  I'm sorry that you have to deal with this, but please do contact your state's medical licensing board.  There's probably some reason why your midwife went MIA, and it may be a very good reason, but that does not exclude her from being accessible to her patients.
