bottle preferences ... need advice

I'm currently almost 27 weeks pregnant with our first child and thinking of what types of baby bottles to use but there are so many choices. My SIL, even though helpful, makes me question every choice I make. I know she means well but sometimes her choices don't work for me. So I thought I would ask those here who might be currently using bottles. All I know is that I would like something easy to use, not many pieces to clean and is of course BPA free. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. TIA

  • We use Playtex Ventaire.

  • I use Avent but really there's always a chance your baby will prefer one over another (in terms of gassiness), which you won't know until he/she arrives. So far so good for us on the Avent, but we knew we liked them from last time and that DS liked them.

Blame it on your unborn child, that you don't want to get too much until you know what they like--that should shut up your SIL. Big Smile

Example: I love Target diapers, use them for DS #1. I put one on DS #2 yesterday for the first time, and he broke out. So, no Target diapers for #2. You just never know.

  • Buy 1 or 2 of a bunch of kinds.

DS wouldn't take the Avent or Playtex VentAire ones that I had.  I had to go out and get Drop-Ins with the latex nipples for him to take it.  Now I have to go find ANOTHER bottle because he's so gassy, even with the drop-ins.

  • We love the Playtex drop-ins.  We buy Targets Up&Up drop ins because they are less money.

  • We bought a few Playtex Ventaire, Dr. Browns, and Avent at the beginning since we didn't know what type our LO would like.  DD seems to like the Avent best so we ran out and got more.
  • We use Born Free.  I wasn't sure if LO would like these so I only registered for a couple until we found out.
  • Avent has the least amount of parts.  However, I think that you might have better luck with one of the brands that has more parts, like Born Free or Dr. Brown's.  Born Free was our favorite when she was a newborn.  (all of the ones I mentioned are BPA free.)
