Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Question from 2nd tri

What size would you recommend for a coming home outfit? I know that there is no way to be sure but I've often heard of the "newborn" sized clothes being too small...thanks in advance!

Re: Question from 2nd tri

  • I had an 8lb12oz, 20 1/2 inch baby- we left the hospital at 8lb4oz. So that's an above avg sized kid. Her newborn c/h outfit was still a little loose on her. I brought a 0-3 outfit just in case too but she would've been swimming in it.

The biggest thing I found was the length of newborn outfits (like sleepers) is lhe limiting factor. We had to take her out of her newborn stuff because of height, not weight. I'd buy something without feetsies in newborn (in case s/he's really tall) and you should be all set.

  • Our baby came early.  Newborn clothes were huge on her.  It's all we had, though.  We just rolled with it.
  • everyone kept telling me not to buy newborn stuff as he would grow out of it too quick and we were expecting a big baby....he turned out to be 7 lbs 4 oz (came early) and the 0-3 month clothes were sooo huge! I ended up going out to buy a few newborn things! The best are the gowns for sleeping..makes your life so much easier!

Clothes are a little confusing...all brands fit differently so you kind of have to eyeball things.....my lo is 6 weeks old and some "big" newborn stuff still fits!

  • LO was 8'8' at birth left the hospital at 8'1 and she fit perfectly in the newborn outfit we had, the 0-3 stuff swims on her.
  • Thanks ladies, I've found a really cute jumper that I'd like to get but was unsure about the size.
  • I would buy a NB outfit. DS was almost 9lb's and his 0-3 month outfit was huge on him.
  • Buy a newborn outfit, but bring a 0-3 in case.

DS was born 9lbs even, when we came home he was 8.9 (i think? 8.10 maybe).

We brought him home in a velour-like/semi-fuzzy George NB. Smile
