Baptists: did you have LO dedicated?

I grew up only going to church occasionally and mostly to Full Gospel Churches. DH was in and out of Baptist churches. I now attend a Baptist church regularly. Someone asked if we planned to have DD dedicated and I don't really now anything about it. When is it usually done and what is the ceremony like? I know I could ask my pastor but I am a little embarassed for not knowing. any help is appreciated.

Re: Baptists: did you have LO dedicated?

  • ds1 was  all it is is the you the parents dedicate yourself to raising your child with God. its a rather short cermony where you stand in front o the church and pray.

  • Basically its when you stand in front of the church with your family and your LO and you pray with the pastor and it is you saying that you want to raise your LO with God and with the support of the church family and the church is somewhat "responsible" now for helping you with this goal and you want their support.
  • what age is this normally done? Is 2 months too old?
