3rd tri ? about sceduled c/s, after emergency c/s

I am having a scheduled c/s in 9 weeks and I worry about having as bad of time recovering as I did with my emergency c/s. It took me at least two weeks to be able to walk, and one to be able to even sit up on my own.

Those of you that have had emergency c/s, then had a sceduled one please tell me about your experiences. Thanks.

  • Same situation. The 2nd time around was sooooooooooo much easier than the first!! Trust me. No hard/long labor, no pushing = faster recovery time (at least for me).

I had a scheduled c/s for DD set for 8/16 but actually went into labor on 7/25 so my OB took her as planned (was almost 36 weeks).

DD ended up in the NICU (breathing issues totally unrelated to the c/s). I was up and walking on day 2 after they removed the catheter and could have went home if I wanted. The only reason we stayed was because of DD being in the NICU. Otherwise I would have been out of there so fast, lol.

I recovered o.k. after enduring labor with DS but this was just so much easier IMO. I was up and running (literally) after 4 weeks PP as well.

  • I have only had a scheduled c-section but I can say it was actually pretty darn smooth, with easy recovery.  I went in at 5:30am and by 7:38am I had my little one in my arms!  I had the cath out that night and was walking around by the next morning.  I am currently 11 days post surgery and other than being tired (thanks LO) I am mobile just as much as I was post surgery.

     Good Luck!

  • Thank you for the responses, I feel less anxious now.
