My husband and I selected godparents for our daughter Raquel...one is local and one is in California. Back in September we selected Dec. 13 as the date but the local gp couldn't make that. So we moved it to Dec. 27 and my husband was supposed to tell the godparent in California but of course he forgot and the gp just called today to say he already bought his ticket! He could change his flight (at the cost of $100) to a date in January or February. But....I go back to work in January to a very demanding job (and I have 3 big dental procedures in Jan) and I really wanted to get this out of the way to make my life easier (for once). My husband says we should just do it the 13th and still have the local gp serve the role but just have someone stand in for her at the ceremony. I don't feel right about that...what would you do????

if the OOT GP can't get a ticket for the 27th then i'd do it without him... you can't keep chaning dates around like that - it will only annoy everyone and anyone who is planning to come, esp the other GP.
I would also pay for the cost to change the ticket (or get a new one all together).... but since it's the holidays i'm guessing he can't even get one.... so i'd do a stand in. That sucks really bad, though.
I don't think you should have it the 27th because your husband forgot and this gp committed to flying in just for your baptism on Dec 13 - and that would be wrong IMO.
So your choices are:
1. Dec 13 without the local gp, or
2. Jan-Feb with you paying the change fee, but you don't think it's convenient for you for other reasons.
Those are your choices, I'm not sure which to say is better. Myself, I'd go with the date both could be there if it's important to you to have gps.
