Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I want a happy baby :(

MY DS smiles once in awhile but not much. hes 2 months old! shouldnt he be grinning all the time instead of being miserable. I just want a happy baby who smiles. I grin at him constantly thinking that maybe he'll finally give in and start grinning.

this bothers me so much. I feel like im doing something wrong. =/

Re: I want a happy baby :(

  • I'm not a mum just yet, but I avidly read the Baby Whisperer books, and according to her, some babies are just grumpy, and that's their demeanor. Hopefully he grows out of it for you :)

  • My first baby was very cranky until about 4 months. Now she's 2 and she's the sweetest, happiest girl. I think it just takes them awhile to figure things out sometimes.
  • give it time he'll smile in no time :)

This!! He is only 2 months old and just because he isn't smiling at you all the time right now does not mean he is *grumpy*

    Give him some time =)

  • Maybe its just his personality. My LO got his "POed" face from me... according to my mother.
  • Don't give up hope. My daughter is 2 1/2 months and a very cranky baby. She rarely has times of happiness but they are starting to get more frequent. I think having a cranky baby makes those smiles all the more special.

I think it's cute that you always say "mum"  ...  ;)

  • DS was a nightmare (I hate to put it that way, but there is no other way to put it) at 2 months.  When he was awake he was screaming, crying, and fussing.  He's almost 3 months now and is constantly happy.  The only time he fusses is when he's sleepy and fighting it a little.  It was a very gradual change.

  • sometimes I feel like my kid has a permanent grumpy face .  But if I was constantly in pain with gas and spitting up alot (which she does) I know I wouldn't be joyful either.  I hope she grows out of it.
