C-section mamas? maybe tmi!

What stool softener did you use? or what helped you use the restroom easier? I am 3 days PP and having a hard time with it..

  • Colace twice per day, though when I left the hospital my nurse recommended taking two at once that night.  I did, and was able to go the next day.

    Hahahahahah

  • I used colace and then used milk of magnesia (things were getting desperate).

Also, I found that it helped to put a rolled up towel up against my abdomen when trying to go to the bathroom.  It offered some support.

  • Miralax. It's over the counter now. I highly recommend.
  • None...I had really bad gas pressure in the hospital.  The morning before I left they gave me a suppository (spelling?) and that got things moving.  If you haven't left the hospital yet, I'd recommend that.
  • They gave me Colace in the hospital and I just use a generic brand at home. I feel your pain though. I couldn't pass gas at the hospital until like 3 days PP and it was awful. I thought I was having pain from the c-section, but it was gas pain. I finally pooped the day we got home from the hospital (Wed. evening, my c-section was on Sunday night) and it didn't hurt at all. I was so happy and it made me feel sooooo much better. In the hospital they had me taking 2 stool softners in the morning and 2 at night. My post-op care is to take one in the morning and one at night. I haven't had any issues with this since Wednesday. I hope that you get some relief soon because it really does help you feel a lot better.
