I guess this is my intro post, too ![]()
I'm 8w3d today and (I believe) I've started to miscarry. I'm bleeding bright red, clotty blood and having absolutely excruciating cramps. I called my OB and he wasn't super helpful, he just said to expect "a ton of blood." ![]()
umm, duh? If anybody has m/c naturally around 8/9 wks, what was your experience. How long did the whole thing last? Should I expect to pass a large piece (fetus/baby) or will it mostly be broken up pieces like it's been thus far?
Any information would be great, Google wasn't too helpful.
Re: Natural m/c at 8w3d, what should I expect?
I'm so sorry for your loss. Every m/c is different, but mine also occurred at 9 weeks so I can tell you what happened for me.
Started bleeding on Tuesday off and on, just small clots. By Wednesday afternoon, bleeding was very heavy and I had horrible cramps. By Wednesday night, I was passing tissue and I did pass the baby. Basically, the sac came out whole and the baby was inside. Looking back, I'm glad I got to see it, but I just want you to be prepared because many people don't want to. I passed the placenta about 30 minutes later (huge piece of tissue.)
For me the cramps lasted several more days and I bled for about a week. It took 7 weeks for AF to come back. I definitely recommend going to see your doctor in about a week or two so they can check and be sure you passed everything.
This is not a fun club to be a part of, but everyone on this board is wonderful and compassionate. Your grief will ebb and flow, but know that we are here to support you because we have unfortunately suffered through the same things. {{BIG HUGS}}

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm so sorry your OB didn't do more than that and at least give you some guidelines.
I'm going to be frank because part of why it was so hard for me was because I didn't know what to expect.
It was VERY painful for me. My midwife later told me that it is basically early labor pains. I had pain that would swell up to unbearable levels, then let off for a bit, then back up to unbearable, etc. I finally got pain meds after the worst of it was already over, so if there is any way you can get some I would get them. (is urgent care an option?)
I had several days of spotting, then bleeding with clots which it sounds like you're having now. The really bad pain I'm talking about happened right before the actual event. Like pp, I also passed a huge piece of tissue after I thought everything was over. Then cramping and bleeding for probably another week.
If you bleed through more than a pad an hour, get to a doctor. Have your DH go get you some of those overnight pads if possible. a heating pad and a warm bath really helped me deal with the pain.
I'm so sorry. This is a horrible experience I would never wish on anyone. I hope it is over quickly for you.
I had 3 natural m/c's and they were all somewhat different. The 1st one was very heavy bleeding with HUGE clots and cramping. It lasted for about 7 days. The 2nd one was a b.o. and I literally passed the sac and then had light spotting for a few days. With my 3rd m/c, I had brown spotting, which changed to red bleeding. Later, it led to clots. Not to be gross, but I saw some gray and white matter in the clots. I had major pain only when I was passing the large clots....But keep in mind, I was fine within 5 days and was back to the gym. GL! I am so sorry for your loss.
