Disaster area guest room.... Where do I start?

Any suggestions?  My guest room and office are complete cluttered disasters.  I have no idea where to start.   I have to get them clean before I can move the living room furniture in there to put up our Christmas tree.

Help!  I am an organizing failure.

I usually don't know where to start either but find that if I start on something that'll show me progress quickly I am more likely to continue and work harder instead of getting overwhelmed and giving up.

That is kinda what I am thinking. DH refuses to get rid of this old dresser and chair we have and that does not help matters.  Maybe I can bring the computer and use BOTB for motivation.  For ever 5 minutes I clean, I can nest for 5 mins.

I'm like Rach.  If I don't see progress I give up.

Is there a bed in there?  Or a desk?  A large piece of furniture?  That's probably where I'd start.  Get it cleared off so that you can isolate your efforts to that one piece of furniture.  Where to go next will probably come natural after that.  I usually go clockwise or counter clockwise though so when I step back I can see everything I've done in one eye shot.

Is  there stuff you can box up? If so I'd start boxing things up and go from there - that always helps me to see quick progress like the PPs mentioned.

Or you can half ass it like I did with our baby stuff yesterday and leave piles all over the floor making it worse than before lol.
