I'm trying to find a spot for our Christmas tree and I'm having a hard time. I think we might have to move a chair from our living room to the basement temporarily to make room. I'm too afraid to put it too close to the fireplace or the baseboard heat.

We have a big stone fireplace with inset areas on the side of the stone work. So we put the tree in one of those insets- b/c its perfect- its in the corner, the dogs won't knock it over, and it fits perfectly.
Only thing is you can't see it from the outside b/c where its located and we dont put up lights outside- so our house looks very unchristmasy when you drive by it.
We've tried it in front of the front room window one year, but the dogs like to look out that window and actually now their dog bed is there - so to avoid it being knocked over- that spot is not a good idea. it did look pretty from the street there though.
ETA: oh yeah, it's in the living room-
