My SIL wants us to have a crib that she used for her grandson who is 5. She has stored it in their garage and said that she would sand it all down and refinish it for us. I haven't seen this crib actually put together or anything so I am not sure how sturdy it is or anything. My DH said that when her grandson was using it everything was fine. WWYD, take it or pass?
One things I remember from the Baby Bargains is to try and avoid used car seats and used cribs. I personally wouldn't get a used one, but that is just me!
I would take a used crib if it met current safety standards (bar width) and if it had not be recalled. I would just make sure the paint or stain being used to re-do it was non-toxic.
The crib and carseat are two things we both wanted new.
Personally I wouldn't use a used crib. But if there haven't been any recalls on it and it's in safe useable condition there is no reason you couldn't use it.
