If you had an Episiotomy

Have your stitches dissolved yet? Mine haven't, and I thought they were supposed to after about 2 weeks.

Re: If you had an Episiotomy

  • no episiotomy - but i had 3rd degree tearing w/ a lot of stitches.  I'm still able to see some stitches inside and after my 6 week exam wed. I had a lot of loose pieces coming out when I wiped after going to the bathroom for the past 2 days. Dr said it was normal for the pieces that hadnt dissolved yet to start coming out like that now. SHe said its healed already and the parts of stitches that were in the skin dissolve and whats outside the skin will just fall out.

  • I've been having them come out for the last week or so, I wouldn't be too worried about it.
  • mine still hadn't dissolved after 3 weeks. Doc said that some types of stitches take longer to dissolve than others.
