I'm bored

I'm doing the finishing ribbing on the second of a pair of socks for a Christmas gift, watching the OKC thunder on TV, and dying of boredom. I keep thinking that tomorrow is Sunday.

How did you learn how to knit or crochet or whatever you are doing to make socks?  Did you teach yourself?  I really want to learn.

My mom initially taught me to knit and crochet when I was 12. I hated knitting, but kept crocheting. I forgot how to knit. Last November, I needed a distraction from TTC, so I bought Stitch n B!tch by Debbie Stoller. I also joined Ravelry.com. There are also many many youtube videos, and the Yarn Harlot's blog and books helped me to stick with it. I kinda obsessed over it to give myself a away to stop obsessing over TTC.

Thanks!  I added one of those books to my amazon.com wish list.  I usually need distractions, too!

To be honest, knitting didn't really distract me from TTC. I just added another obsession to my repertoire. I'm thoroughly addicted.

 Also, my advice is to get good yarn. Find a yarn store in your town and get some yarn there; I've seen several new knitters quit because they hated the acrylic yarn you can get at Walmart and Hobby Lobby. Good yarn isn't very cheap though.
