My husband, daughter and I went out to eat a few weeks back. We were seated and waiting for the waiter. Its was out on the back patio and conversations were easily over heard. So, I eavesdropped....covertly at first.
then I heard the following (from what I ascertained as being a "mom" club as there were five women at the table all with small children)
Woman 1 turns to woman 2: "do you know X?"
woman 2: "no."
W1: :well, her daughter is almost one and X has been doing elimination communication with her since she was two months."
W2: "what?"
W1: "yah, apparently she would hold the baby over the toilet and" (with this I saw a gesture as well as heard : "put her finger tip in the baby's bottom."
At this point I was OPENLY eavesdropping with a ghastly look on my face.
That is not EC is it?
And if it is, there is NO WAY IN HELL I WOULD SUBJECT MY DAUGHTER TO IT.
At that point, the women saw me and I heard not a peep the rest of the night.
Re: I cannot get this conversation I heard out of my mind.

Oddly appropriate response.

....sorry, I was trying to play up your rhetorical question.
I usually don't have good responses, but somehow...anyway- pretty sick, eh? I think I outwardly groaned when I heard the story. Poor child.
It kind of made me want to punch them, and I wasn't even there. How did you restrain? I admire that type of restraint!
And, it's slightly frightening that they think that's REALLY what it is. *sighs and shakes head*
I contemplated going over and asking if her "friend" had heard of Dr. Sears. I am not a 100% fan, or knowledgable of Sears and his philosophies...but I have to think that Sears would recommend against it.
I wanted to her more, so I kept quiet, thinking she'd get loud again....but she didn't and then they left. I am not a good eaves dropper....i tend to let on that I am hearing too easily.
